The Kitchen Garden
The Kitchen Garden at the Old Manor provides a great range of fruit and vegetables which are used for making our homemade jams, jellies and chutneys. |
The old apple orchard has many varieties of traditional english apples and has recently been replanted with new stock to replace some of the aging trees. There's also a couple of very old perry pear trees but they don't produce sufficient fruit to produce the traditional local Perry drink. |
The victorian greenhouse heats up during the summer and helps to produce masses of very hot thai-dragon chillies which go into our Hot-Roots Chutney. |
The kitchen garden is full of fruit trees and bushes which provide much of the fruit for our jams, jellies and chutneys including Ben Sarak Blackcurrants, Red Lake redcurrants and a cultivated blackberry. |
